In the beginning all people were one single community, and an ideal unity and love held them together. But with the passage of time, hatred, distance, and prejudice took root. The greatest tragedy of our age is that man has become the enemy of man.

Protecting Others From Your Own Harm
Within every human being lies the capacity for both good and harm. If the world is to be set right, the only solution is that every person be raised to learn control over their own capacity for harm.
Rather than people forever guarding themselves against the harm of others and still falling victim to some injustice, if every individual restrains their own harm, the whole world becomes safe of its own accord. Even if a person does no good to anyone, should they merely hold back their own harm so that the world is spared their injury, peace — nothing but peace — would settle upon the earth.
This is that supremely simple, sincere, and entirely free solution of unity and humanity which can make the world peaceful and the hereafter successful.
As Allama Iqbal said:
The individual exists through the bond of community; alone he is nothing
A wave exists within the river; outside the river it is nothing
